Happy Thanksgiving

I recorded this on another Thanksgiving weekend. But below are some fun facts about this special day and weekend.
Here are nine fun facts about Thanksgiving to share around the dinner table.
Fun facts about Canadian Thanksgiving
Canadian Thanksgiving is earlier than the American holiday because it celebrates an earlier harvest, and the date was officially set as the second Monday in October in 1957. It originated from celebrations of the explorer Martin Frobisher's 1578 voyage and is a national holiday except in some Atlantic provinces. The name in French is Action de grâce, and the day is often shared with the start of Canadian Oktoberfest.
1. It predates the U.S. holiday: While the first official U.S. Thanksgiving was in 1621, Canada's national Thanksgiving was officially declared in 1879.
2. The date was once variable: Before being set to the second Monday in October, Thanksgiving was celebrated on various dates, including a fixed day in November.
3. It celebrates an earlier harvest: The holiday's earlier date in October reflects Canada's distinct harvest season compared to the United States.
4. It has a French name: In Quebec, Thanksgiving is called "Action de grâce".
5. It's not a universal day off: While a national public holiday, it is not observed everywhere, and some Atlantic provinces do not consider it a statutory holiday.
6. It can overlap with other events: The holiday can sometimes coincide with Oktoberfest celebrations.
7. Turkey wasn't the original food: The first Canadian Thanksgiving in 1578 did not include turkey; the modern Thanksgiving meal was influenced by settlers bringing their customs from the U.S.
8. Cranberries have Indigenous roots: The Algonquin peoples were the first to harvest cranberries, which are now a staple of the Thanksgiving meal.
9. The wishbone tradition is ancient: The practice of breaking a wishbone dates back to the ancient Etruscans in 322 BCE, who were later joined by the Romans who brought the tradition to England.
